Bronx Teacher Ryan Evans Charged For Asking Student For Nude Snapchat Videos

A teacher at an all-girls school in the Bronx, New York, was accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl by asking her to send him Snapchat videos of herself naked. He allegedly groped her after class, prosecutors said Thursday.

Ryan Evans, 28, who worked at the Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls Charter School on Concourse Village West at E. 156th St., initially had a Snapchat relationship with the victim that included exchanging nude photos, according to New York Daily News.

Investigators believe he sent the pictures sometimes between August and December and the victim responded with naked pictures of herself. He then sent her videos of his genitals, a complaint said.

The student later told detectives that Evans and she met in the transit hub at River Ave. and 161st St., near Yankee Stadium, where he kissed and touched her inappropriately, ABC affiliate WABC-TV reported.

Evans was arraigned Thursday on child pornography and sexual abuse charges and was scheduled to be back in court on Friday. His bail was set at $75,000 bond or $50,000 cash.

This is not the first time that a teacher was caught for having inappropriate relations with students on Snapchat. In September, a high school teacher in California was arrested and charged with unlawful sex and oral copulation with a minor.

Samantha Lee Ciotta was taken into custody after she allegedly appeared in a Snapchat video that showed her wearing only “a shirt and panties” while drinking with two shirtless minors.

A student at Beaumont High School in California spotted the Snapchat video in August and approached the student, who had reportedly posted it and asked if it was “Mrs. Ciotta.” The matter was then escalated to the police who found a torn, handwritten note that also identified Ciotta’s alleged victim by name in her house.

In December, Patch.com reported that Ciotta faced three felony charges with one count of oral copulation with a minor and two counts of sexual intercourse with the underage boy in June, the complaint stated.

Another teacher in Ohio, Madeline Marx was charged in November with two counts of sexual battery for having sexual relationships with two juvenile students. She too admitted to sending lewd texts and photos via Snapchat and Instagram to one of the students.

The district was made aware of Marx’s conduct when a group of students went to the principal of the school to make the allegations before classes started. "Teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of educating children who are becoming young adults," Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said. "This defendant took advantage of her position and developing a sexual relationship with minor students."

Marx was removed from her post by the school district in an effort to ensure that she did not have any contact with her students inside the premises, reports said.
