After months of working on her solo album since leaving Fifth Harmony in December, Camila Cabello has finally announced the title of her first solo album and the release date of her first single.

On Sunday, the 20-year-old shared a lengthy post on Twitter and Instagram announcing the big news as well as what inspired her during her writing process. It turns out her time in Fifth Harmony had a big affect on how she created songs.

“The first song from my forthcoming album ‘the hurting the healing the loving’ will come out on 5.19.17,” Cabello wrote on Twitter.

“‘The hurting the healing the loving’ is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when i was lost to a time when i found myself again,” she explained.

The “Bad Things” singer revealed that the second song off her album, “I Have Questions,” will introduce her story to fans. The tune will reflect a time when Cabello wrote songs in hotel bathrooms and will eventually transition to her journey through various emotional stages.

“I was completely broken during that time, i was in the kind of pain that’s uncomfortable to talk about, and it was the kind of chapter you never want to read out loud,” Cabello wrote.

The “Love Incredible” singer revealed that she began struggling singing songs with Fifth Harmony that was about everything except for what she was going through at the moment.

“I couldn’t write another song for six months because writing meant i had to feel everything, and i wasn’t ready to do that yet,” Cabello stated.

Cabello revealed that she eventually began to write again, however, all of her songs were sad ones until she just couldn’t write anymore. The singer did get to a point where she became happy again which was reflected in her music.

“As i got happier and happier, i realized the songs were getting happier and happier. and i realized i wasn’t making music just to make an album anymore, i was making this music to heal,” the songstress wrote.

In the end, despite her emotional roller coaster, Cabello was grateful for her experience. “To the hurting, thank you for teaching me that even if at night you take me into the deepest depths of the ocean, i will still wake in the morning. to the healing, thank you for the tears. when they finally came, they tasted like God. to the loving, you are even more beautiful than i remember,” she said.

Cabello left Fifth Harmony in December 2016, promising fans that she would be giving them “a big chunk” of her heart in her solo music. The singer is scheduled to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday where there is a good chance that fans will get the opportunity to hear her new music live.
