Anthony Mackie’s Falcon/Sam Wilson may get a sidekick, a falcon (as in bird) called Redwing, in “Captain America: Civil War.” The recent report from JoBlo suggests that the bird will be a robotic drone and will be linked to Falcon, aiding him in various tasks.

In the comics, Falcon/Sam Wilson telepathically links with Redwing as he has limited control over birds. He befriends Redwing on an island and forms a strong bond with it. Redwing has been depicted as a highly trained bird who responds to the Falcon's verbal and mental commands and helps him in his battle against his enemies.

In Marvel Cinematic Universe, Falcon/Sam Wilson does not have any superpowers, so he will not be able to link to the bird telepathically, but will form a mental connection with it, according to the report. The bird will be red and as mentioned in the report, “will resemble a cooler, modified MCU-like bird drone.”

There has been no official confirmation in this regard. Meanwhile Falcon’s relationship with Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will also prosper in “Captain America: Civil War.”

“With Falcon and Cap, what's so great is there's a mutual respect. There's a soldier respect. What's great about … [the movie] is you get to see their relationship grow,” Mackie said during Emerald City Comicon 2015, reported Comic Book Resources.

“Captain America: Civil War” is currently filming in the Atlanta area. The events of the film are set after “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and will see formation of two groups of Avengers after a governing body is formed to determine their actions. The all-star cast also boasts Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Rudd.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing from the screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, based on the comic book “Captain America" by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Henry Jackman is doing the music and Trent Opaloch the cinematography. The film is to open May 6, 2016, in 3D and IMAX.
