Mining and construction machinery maker Caterpillar Inc. announced additional job cuts on Friday, bringing the week's total to 22,100 cuts.

The company said Friday it is slashing 2,110 jobs at three Illinois plants. The company announced 20,000 jobs cuts on Jan. 26 after reporting its profit for the fourth quarter dropped almost by a third.

Less demand has led the company to cut production as the economy slows. The company employs about 113,000 people worldwide.
