After 25 years, The Oprah Winfrey show has finally completed the taping of its final session on Tuesday which will be aired on May 23 and 24 before her final show on May 25.

The star-studded farewell featured some of the biggest names of Hollywood including Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Beyonce and Katie Holmes.

On November 2009, Oprah made an announcement of retiring and ending the show in 2011. The show, which is the highest-rated talk show in American television history, has millions of fans across the globe. Aired in about 146 countries worldwide, the show has an average viewership of around 15-20 million a day in the United States alone.

I feel the love and I thank you for it, the Associated Press quoted Winfrey telling the crowd at Chicago's United Center. Thank you for being a part of this great night, this celebration of what you have done for 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.' You have made it possible for us to stand for 25 years.

Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular on Tuesday received a standing ovation by the 13,000 fans who attended the event. All the tickets for the final event was free and distributed to fans all over through a lottery.

The 25th season premiere included flashbacks from the last 25 years, and included various audience members and their experiences watching Oprah. There was also a segment on how they chose some of the 300 people who were in the audience.

Some of the other celebs who attended the event were Maria Shriver, actress Halle Berry, former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Lisa Ling.
