NBC’s ”Chicago Med” is serving up some interesting medical cases to viewers in Season 2. This week, Dr. Natalie Manning prevented the outbreak of an epidemic with the help of Dr. Daniel Charles’ daughter Robin who is also an epidemiologist. Dr. Sarah Reese stumbled upon a sex trafficking ring while treating a patient. What will happen in episode 5?

“Chicago Med” is shifting the focus to Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). According to the official synopsis on NBC, a car accident occurs during the Chicago marathon and a runner gets severely injured. The injured runner is in critical condition and with his life hanging in the balance, Halstead performs a difficult procedure on the field with the help of Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and April’s brother Noah (Roland Buck III). Noah is a fourth-year medical student.

The promo of Season 2, episode 5 reveals that Halstead will have only 19 minutes to do something otherwise the runner would be paralyzed or dead. However, Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnel) questions Halstead’s quick procedure when the patient is taken to Chicago Med with the help of an ambulance.

Dr. Rhodes tells him he made a big gamble by doing a portable bypass on the marathon runner. Halstead may have done more harm than good.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) treats an 8-year-old girl who is experiencing a sudden loss in hearing. However, a complication arises that tests the doctor’s decision making skills.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) deals with a woman named Olga (Betty Buckley) who appears to be malnourished. He asks for Dr. Daniel Charles’ (Oliver Platt) help on the case.

The upcoming episode of “Chicago Med” Season 2 will see Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) take some measures to get her personal life in order.
