The 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival turned out to be a majestic affair with over 75,000 attendees each day and nearly 143 bands performing live on the desert lawns of the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California amid cool breeze, rains, murky skies and chilly weather.

Lately dubbed as one of the biggest musical events of the year, the three-day Coachella festival has become an important platform for alternative rock, rave and electronic music acts. This year, the Californian folks got to experience some of the most rocking live performances in the years so far.

Non-stop music, back-to-back exhilarating performances by at least 25 artistes in the day, the musical madness and the joy of nippy weather kept party goers in high spirits.

On day one and two, Mazzy Star singer Hope Sandoval, guitarist David Roback and several others, including Sacramento band Death Grips, Los Angeles folk pop group honeyhoney's banjo-led ode, Brit pop band Pulp cast a magical spell of music with their electrifying performances live onstage, the Los Angeles Times has reported.

Saturday night and Sunday saw one of the best musical hours of the entire festival at the Gobi tent. Los Angeles musician and bassist Thundercat's 70s and modern-day beat music fusion, rapper Azealia Banks' enthralling feat and the performances by several other artistes wowed the crowd.
