Dave Grohl has responded to Courtney Love's recent claim that the Foo Fighters frontman had been hitting on Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Love and his late Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain.

Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant. These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue, Grohl said, in a statement obtained by Rolling Stone.

Grohl, mentioning Loves new accusations, is referring to the Hole singer's Twitter screed from Tuesday.

In the rant, Love claims that her daughter's roommate told her of incidents when the former Nirvana drummer hit on Frances.

I hear from frannies roommate that @davegrohl hit on frances, and that she was curious, I'm not mad at her, him I am about to shoot, dead, Love wrote on Twitter, according to a report from Gawker.

In what ended up being a long sequence of tweets, Love ranted about a number of topics, among them Frances' boyfriend, inspirational tweets about Buddhism and the Grohl accusations.

Love declared in the tweets that, according to a driver, Grohl had his hands all over Frances in his car.

well if bean did have sex with @davegrohl which I've now heard reliable sources and a driver 3rd time, its fine on her part, he's insane, she tweeted later on.

Courtney and Grohl have had a lifelong dose of bad blood between them. During a show in November, Love accused Grohl of wasting Nirvana's money and riding Kurt Cobain's coattails.

According to Gawker, @davegrohl is not the Twitter account of Nirvana/Foo Fighters musician Dave Grohl, but of a German IT worker who has not tweeted since 2008.

Love's Twitter account, @cbabymichelle, is locked to the public, but Gawker has posted a screen capture collecting all of her recent tweets.
