It’s Daytime TV’s one night to visit prime time. The 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, and the biggest names from talk shows, soap operas and more will be there.
The 42nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will honor the best of daytime television. That includes soap operas, daytime talk shows, game shows, children’s programming and more. The ceremony will air live on Pop TV (formerly the TV Guide Channel) at 8 p.m. EDT (5 p.m. PDT). Unfortunately, there is no official live stream for those who want to watch online.
Tyra Banks will host the show from Stage 16 on Warner Bros. Studios lot in Hollywood, which is where Casablanca, Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters were filmed. The historic locale will host tons of famous attendees.
While most nominees will have to wait to find out if they win a statue, “Golden Girls” actress Betty White knows she'll be on stage tonight to receive a lifetime achievement award. Presenters include Regis Philbin, Steve Harvey, Tom Bergeron, Eileen Davidson, Kevin Frazier, Leeza Gibbons, Deidre Hall, Vicki Lawrence, Marie Osmond, Craig Ferguson, Deidre Hall, Mario Lopez, Nancy O’Dell, Shemar Moore and Alex Trebek.
The Daytime Emmy Awards are a major event for soap opera fans, so expect a plethora of soap actors. “Days of Our Lives” actors Christopher Sean, Freddie Smith and Guy Wilson are scheduled to be at the show along with Jacob Young, Karla Mosley and Linsey Godfrey of the “Bold and the Beautiful.” The "Young and The Restless” stars Daniel Goddard, Justin Hartley and Melissa Claire Egan will be there as well.
“General Hospital” fans have a big night ahead of them. Current actors Kirsten Storms and Ryan Paevey will present, but former “General Hospital” stars Anthony Geary and Genie Francis will reunite to present an award as well. The duo played Luke and Laura for more than 20 years on the soap. Their wedding even attracted famed actress Elizabeth Taylor to do a guest stint on the show.
Viewers will also see some serious fashion from these stars as well. “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” “Days of Our Lives” star Eileen Davidson and “General Hospital” actress Donna Mills will be wearing Mark Zunino haute couture. The designer even gave fans a preview on Twitter:
