Syfy's “Defiance” returns Friday with an episode involving Nolan and Amanda’s plan to escape from captivity. Season 3, episode 4, titled "Dead Air," is about an explosion at the Votanis Collective.

It will feature the characters of Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz), Datak Tarr (Tony Curran), Alak Tarr (Jesse Rath), Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene), Stahma Tarr (Jaime Murray), Jessica "Berlin" Rainier (Anna Hopkins), Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler), James Murray (Niles Pottinger), Kenya Rosewater (Mia Kirshner), Eksu Tsuroz T'evgin (Conrad Coates) and Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas).

"Dead Air" follows events after the Season 3 episode “Broken Bough.” The previous episode featured Amanda’s negotiation skills as she was forced to make a deal with the Omec to help secure Defiance’s future.

Zap2it reports that in "Dead Air," there will be a huge explosion at Votanis Collective and it will rock Defiance. Meanwhile, Amanda and Nolan will be caught and they will work together to escape their captors.

TV Guide reports that Amanda and Nolan will uncover some weapons that were buried in the past. Unfortunately, they will be captured. Berlin will find a way to get revenge on Irisa by investigating the explosion. As for the Omec leader T’evgin and Stahma’s relationship, it will go in a different direction than most people expected.

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) provided a list of guest stars that will appear in "Dead Air." They include Rob Archer (George), Jon Ambrose (John), Craig Snoyer (Bioman Paul) and Nicolas Grimes (Ringo/Bioman).
