Dennis Rodman, FBI Informant: 'The Worm' Plans To Spy On North Korea During Next Visit

Dennis Rodman has been many (often bizarre) things in his strange career: an Olympic-level athlete, a failed "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant, and even an unofficial diplomat to North Korea. Now it seems that we’re entering a brave new world of Dennis Rodman-related absurdity. Ladies and gentleman, get ready to meet Dennis Rodman, FBI informant.

In an interview with the Miami Herald, Rodman claims that the FBI was so interested in his much-publicized, Vice-sponsored trip to North Korea that the federal agency is considering sending him back to North Korea, this time as a paid FBI informant.

"I have been contacted by the FBI and I met with them. They wanted to know what went on and who's really in charge in North Korea," Rodman told Miami Herald reporters at a Saturday night gala dedicated to the stars of “Real Housewives of Miami.”

Rodman added that he would be returning to North Korea in a more official capacity sometime in August. While news that Dennis Rodman is an FBI informant is certainly interesting, it raises the question: Is one allowed to tell reporters about their informant status?

In February, Rodman made his first visit to North Korea. coordinated by Vice magazine. Rodman’s trip included a meeting with Kim Jong-un as well as a “mixed-match” exhibition basketball game in the capital Pyongyang. The magazine called the trip a “basketball diplomacy mission” and the trip was recorded for Vice’s new series on HBO, which premiered April 5.

While in the past, Rodman has referred to Kim as a friend, it seems that the bold new FBI Informant Dennis Rodman is not allowed to speak so kindly of the North Korean dictator.

"I'm not a total idiot. I know what Kim Jong-un is threatening to do regarding his military muscle,” Rodman said, indicating that he at least has some. "I hope it doesn't happen because America will take whatever actions to protect America and our allies."

Rodman also spoke to Gossip Extra about the upcoming trip to North Korea, stating that “We have no plans really, as far as what we’re going to do over there, but we’ll just hang and have some fun!”

“No plans really” may not be the most satisfying words to hear in relation to an FBI information campaign, but try to keep in mind that this is Dennis Rodman. You can’t expect it to make too much sense.

As for Rodman’s plans to help the FBI with the situation in North Korea, it’s all about peace and love, which is obviously a language that Kim Jong-Un is familiar with.

“We all going to find a way to get along and keep peace. Peace and love is where it is at,” Rodman said.
