Vogue shocked readers Friday with the release of April's cover, which features none other than Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The question on most people’s minds now is whether West somehow forced editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to put them there. It has been rumored for a while now that Kardashian’s family was pleading with the powerful editor to feature her.

But Wintour stated Friday that West had no influence on her decision to feature the celebrity couple.

The relationship between Wintour and the Kardashian family is said to be unfriendly. Rumors have circulated that Wintour consistently banned Kim from the annual Met Gala. She was able to attend in 2013 as West’s date. But then Kardashian was obviously cropped out of a picture when the fashion site made a “Best Dressed” list, showing that Wintour likely still has distaste for the curvaceous celebrity. That same year, Wintour reportedly deemed Kim “the worst thing since socks and sandals.”

Even her sister Kendall Jenner 18, was featured in Vogue before the 33-year-old. Kendall did an online photo shoot for the elite Conde Nast magazine last month.

West has allegedly been vying to get his fiancé on the cover for some time now, telling Ryan Seacrest last year, “There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue, she’s like the most intriguing woman right now. She’s got Barbara Walters calling her like everyday.”

But Wintour, 64, released a statement on the cover, saying, in part, “As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on the Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.”

So after months of pining to be on the cover of Vogue magazine, Kim has gotten her wish.  The soon-to-be bride even gives a glimpse as to what to will look like in her wedding dress, as she dons a strapless white Lanvin wedding gown. She shows off her 15-carat diamond ring as West lovingly embraces her from behind.

"This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! OMGGGGG!!! I can't even breath! [sic]" Kardashian tweeted on Friday.

Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly, West and Kardashian will be making May 24 the special day. The wedding will take place in Paris, less than two weeks before West’s 37th birthday.

In October, in front of her family and friends, West proposed by had a 50-piece orchestra play Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” before playing his own hit song “Knock Me Down.” The couple has been dating since last year, though they have known each other for around a decade. Kardashian was more than happy to say “yes,” later telling E! News, “Last night was truly magical!!! I am the luckiest girl in the world! I get to marry my best friend!"
