Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. has issued a recall for two of its products in a number of states across the United States over the “presence of small pieces of plastic” that could be possible choking hazards.

The products affected are Entenmann’s Little Bites fudge brownies (five-pack), chocolate chip muffins (five-pack and 10-pack) and variety box (20-pack) that have a best-by date of Sept. 24, 2016, or Oct. 8, 2016, in a total of 37 states.

According to a press release, the company said the presence of potentially harmful plastics is the result of a manufacturing failure at a bakery in Illinois. One injury has been reported in relation to the recalled products.

The products covered under the voluntary recall were all distributed over the last two weeks and have now been removed from shelves, the company said. Consumers who have purchased the products have been advised to dispose them of and contact the company for a refund.

The release on the Little Bites website confirmed that no other Entenmann’s products have been affected.

Bimbo, that owns Entenmann's, is the largest bakery company in the United States, operated by Mexico-based Grupo Bimbo. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been notified about the recall and has issued an advisory on its website.
