“Eyewitness” actor James Paxton revealed how his co-star Tyler Young helped him become more natural when filming scenes with him.

During a Twitter Q&A 30 minutes before the airing of tonight’s Season 1, episode 7 of “Eyewitness,” Paxton — who plays Lukas Waldenbeck on the USA Network series — revealed that the best thing about sharing a scene with Young is his unpredictability as an actor. “[Tyler] always surprises me in a scene and does something I’m not expecting him to,” Paxton wrote on Twitter in reply to a fan question. “[It] leaves a lot of room to breathe and be natural in a scene.”

This isn’t the first time Paxton has praised Young’s acting chops. During a chat with the Interview magazine last month, Paxton talked about how generous Young is as an actor even during reads.

“Tyler was so open and willing to work hard with every actor that he read with, so he gave everyone the best shot at [the role of Lukas],” Paxton said of his onscreen lover who was immediately cast for the role Philip Shea after auditioning for it. “It was a bit more of a struggle for them to find Lukas; it took them three months in total. Tyler... I felt bad for the poor guy. I was the last guy to read for [Lukas], so I felt like they were running a train over him, because he had to do a lot of these emotional scenes.”

Young also had nothing but praise for Paxton, who plays a closeted gay man on the show. “James would change his whole demeanor from Lukas’ private persona to his public persona. It completely shifted, [and] I think he did a really nice job,” Young told Out magazine of Paxton’s performance. “Lukas is so desperate to keep that side of himself repressed he gets violent. But when it does come through in private, he is very tender. Throughout the season you can see our dynamic change.”

An all-new episode of “Eyewitness” airs next Sunday, Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. EST on USA Network. Check out the synopsis for Season 1, episode 8, titled “The Larson’s Dog,” below:
