Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are having a baby. The couple announced the news Friday through -- you guessed it -- a Facebook post and an accompanying picture that shows a baby bump on Chan. The couple, who have been married since 2012, said they are expecting a daughter, with Zuckerberg adding that "in our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs-up 'like' with her hand, so I'm already convinced she takes after me."

"We've already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people's lives around the world," Zuckerberg said. "Now we'll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation."

Zuckerberg also used the announcement as an opportunity to discuss miscarriages. The Facebook co-founder shared that he and his wife have been trying to have a child for years and have had three miscarriages along the way. "Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you -- as if you're defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own," Zuckerberg said. "In today's open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn't distance us; it brings us together."

Fortunately, Chan's pregnancy is far enough along now that risk of loss is low, Zuckerberg said. The pregnancy announcement caps off a big week for Zuckerberg and company. The company on Wednesday released its second quarter earnings, which showed Facebook is still seeing strong growth in its advertising business, and on Thursday, Zuckerberg announced Aquila, Facebook's enormous laser-beaming and Internet-delivering drone aircraft.
