“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kim Kardashian, 36, reacted to the horrific Monday bombing in Manchester, England — which killed 22 people and injured more than 50 others — with words of support for Ariana Grande, 23, whose concert was the target. But not all of her posts were well received, and an Instagram photo posted by Kardashian of herself partying with Grande was deleted after it sparked outrage among fans. Now, fans are coming to her defense.

The photo, which sent out a message of support to Grande, pictured Kardashian and Grande at a concert that the singer herself posted about on Instagram months ago. “Concerts are supposed to be a place where u can let loose and have fun. It's so scary to not feel safe in this world. My heart goes out to @arianagrande I love you,” Kardashian wrote in the caption.

Critics swarmed her feed and called the post “disgusting” and “narcissistic.” The primary reason that Kardashian seemed to elicit the ire of angry fans seems to be that she included herself in the photograph — something scores of other musicians and celebrities have done in in messages of support to Grande — and thereby, as some fans have alleged, made the tragedy about herself.

Some have taken to Twitter with screenshots of the Instagram post to castigate the the reality star by tagging her in the tweet.

Others, however, are defending Kardashian on Twitter. “People really made Kim Kardashian delete this tweet because they didn’t like that she included a photo of herself,” wrote one Twitter user. “Y’all are annoying.”

Another pointed to the disproportionate criticism of Kardashian’s post while other celebrities got a pass.

“It really wasn’t about her she posted it because she was showing the happier time with Ariana everything she post you guys have to start,” wrote another Twitter user.

“Up early and ready about what happened in Manchester. This is truly so senseless and heart breaking . My heart goes out to everyone involved,” Kardashian wrote Tuesday on Twitter in a since-deleted tweet.

In two other tweets that remain on her account, Kardashian wrote that she’s “praying for everyone in Manchester.” She added, “I can't imagine the fear and agony these parents must be going through searching for their kids.”

The tweets that remain received 93,000 and 65,000 “likes,” respectively, with thousands of additional retweets from her 52.6 million followers. Kardashian and Grande's relationship has been documented on social media in the past. Just months ago, Kardashian uploaded a photo of herself and her 3-year-old daughter North with Grande backstage at one of her shows.
