The New Jersey Devils look to advance to the Eastern Conference championship on Tuesday when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 5.
The Devils are up 3-1 in the series and would advance to play either the New York Rangers or the Washington Capitals with a win on Tuesday night.
The game will be broadcasted at 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC Sports, but you can also watch a live stream online available here.
The Flyers are hoping a return to Philadelphia will jumpstart their stagnant offense, but must do so without star forward Claude Giroux. Giroux was suspended for Game 5 after delivering an illegal check to the head of Devils center Dainius Zubrus during Game 4.
NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan cited the reckless picking of the head as the reason for the suspension, but Giroux was still adamant on Monday that he didn't purposely hit Zubrus in the head.
I was trying to finish my hit and he kind of leaned in and I kind of hit him, my shoulder to his head, Giroux said before the punishment was announced. My elbow was down. I didn't jump. I'm a pretty honest player. I'm not a dirty player. I'm not out there to hurt anybody. I was just trying to finish a hit.
Giroux's absence in Game 5 is a fortuitous break for the Devils, but they did their best on Tuesday to acknowledge that the Flyers still have a chance in the series.
[Giroux] is a big part of their power play and plays a lot of minutes, a lot of their offense goes through him, but you know what, it's similar to when we were missing Kovy, New Jersey captain Zach Parise told reporters on Tuesday.
Patrick Elias added, Just because they don't have Giroux, that doesn't mean that they're going to give up. We know usually what happens your top player is out: The team rallies around it and just battles harder.
The Devils know that from personal experience after throttling the Flyers 4-1 in Game 2 without star left winger Iyla Kovalchuk. New Jersey used that momentum plus Kovalchuk's eventual return to rattle off three straight wins and put them on the verge of advancing to the next round.
