Android Nougat update is finally rolling out across the Android ecosystem. Some Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units have already received the official update from Samsung, but HTC surprisingly has stopped the rollout for its HTC 10 smartphone.

The official S7 update has been made available in the U.S. with other regions expected to receive it next week. Customers who participated in the S7 Android Nougat Beta program will get the updates first and then it will roll out to all phones. The size of the update is around 215 MB, which makes it a heavy update.

The Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 Edge comes in two versions: G935FXXU1DPLT and G935FOXA1DPLT, probably assigned for the Qualcomm and Exynos processor versions of the device.

The Android Nougat changelog for S7 shows the improved notifications, new TouchWiz UX, Quick settings button and multi-window feature.

Samsung’s Always On display will also be enhanced by the update, providing a longer standby time. In case you are using the Gear Icon X, it's advisable to update the wireless headphones before you update your S7 device.

Meanwhile, HTC 10 users will be dismayed as the Nougat rollout for the device has been delayed. HTC initially offered the update for the device in November but bugs marred the initial version. The company is expected to fix the bugs and come out with an improved version of the update soon.
