'#Hashtag': Jimmy Fallon And Justin Timberlake Show Absurdity Of Tweets Spoken Aloud On 'Late Night' [VIDEO]

What would happen if Twitter conversations and hashtags were spoken in real life? On Tuesday night’s episode of NBC’s “Late Night,” Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake explored exactly that in a skit titled “#Hashtag.”

The skit opens to Timberlake sitting on a couch as Fallon arrives. Fallon greets him and Timberlake responds, “Not much Jimmy, #chilling. What’s up with you?”

Fallon responds in kind, “Just been busy working. #riseandgrind #isitfridayyet.”

The theme escalates quickly as Timberlake and Fallon add several more hashtags to their conversation. Mundane conversation topics such as a description of a cookie and a dentist visit turned into an extensive hashtag fest as the hashtags piled on and on in the skit.

“I just saw my dentist. #bling #dentalcare #cavityfree #thatshowWedo #wegohard #wecantstop,” said Timberlake.

Fallon and Timberlake continue to volley back and forth, piling more hashtags into their conversation, until “Late Night” in-house band drummer, Questlove, comes into the room to say, “Hey guys. #shutthef—kup.”
