The United States Congress has spent the last two days grilling representatives from Facebook, Google and Twitter over the presence of Russian-sponsored groups placing advertisements and creating disinformation campaigns on the platforms.

Some of the ads that were created and promoted by Russian government-backed trolls, specifically those from the St. Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency, have been made public by the Democrats on the U.S. House of Representatives' Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. A number of ads were also highlighted by members of Congress during the several hearings held on the Hill with the tech firms on Tuesday and Wednesday.
