Reports surfaced last week saying that Samsung would roll out the new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware update for several devices including the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S2 in coming days.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S2 with the model number GT-I9100 and just can’t wait for the official firmware update to become available for your device, you have got the luck on your side. Thanks to an Avatar ROM, based on the latest CM10.1, your Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) can now run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Below is a step-by-step guide, showing how to install the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Avatar Custom ROM on the Galaxy S2. But before going ahead, users must have proper backup of all their data within the handset.
Apart from that, there are some more vital aspects to be aware of before installing the custom firmware:
- The device must have at least 80 percent battery power
- USB driver must be installed for Samsung Galaxy S2 in your PC
- USB Debugging must be enabled
- Backup your EFS Folder
- The device must be rooted and have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed
- Perform a Dalvik Cache wipe before proceeding from the recovery mode
- This tutorial is only for the Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT- I9100). Therefore, it should not be implemented on any other Android device
Note: IBTimes cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong. The users should proceed at their own risk.
