The iPhone 6 and Apple’s iOS 8 may come with a number of new features, but one thing they don’t include or support is wireless charging, or for that matter: microwave charging.

Users of the Internet image board 4chan created a set of fake promotional materials over the weekend for a feature called “Apple Wave,” which claims to allow users to charge their iPhone 6 by heating it in a microwave. Simply put, this not only doesn’t work, but also will destroy your iPhone in the process. But that hasn’t stopped 4chan users from tweeting out the fake flyer under the hashtag #AppleWave. And it appears that a number of iPhone users have fallen for trick:

But this isn’t the first time that 4chan users have unleashed a destructive iPhone prank onto the Web. Coinciding with the release of iOS 7, fake promotional material that is believed to have originated from the image board claimed that the software update would waterproof their iPhone and iPad.

And it turns out, some Twitter users are trying that prank again with this year’s release of iOS 8.
