Sorry HTC, but your promotional video for the HTC Ocean has already been leaked online. Famous Twitter leakster Evan Blass has outed the promotional clip way before the Taiwanese company could play it on the smartphone’s launch event next week.

On Saturday, Blass took to the social networking service to share to his followers a promotional clip that features the soon-to-be-unveiled HTC Ocean. He even asked his followers in the caption if they still remember the handset that is debuting on Jan. 12.

In the video, a couple using the new smartphone is seen launching apps with just soft touches on the sides of the handset. Blass’ followers took notice of this new functionality and gave their two cents about it. A fan @ViggyRonaldo wrote: “That’s insane functionality for an edge display.” Another fan @Sarabia commented: “They gave ‘the purpose’ to the edge of the screen…”

PhoneArena was among the first tech online publications to learn about the leaked promo clip, and the news site says the new scrolling functionality on the HTC Ocean is more than just a gimmick. Not only can users scroll through various apps using the edges, they can also just tap on the edge to launch any of the application.

HTC is expected to make the device official during its Jan. 12 event. As previously reported, the HTC Ocean is going to launch under its official name, the HTC U Ultra. Another device is also debuting alongside the HTC U Ultra, and it is called the HTC U Play.

In September of last year, Blass also leaked a promotional video clip featuring the HTC Ocean. The clip showed off that the handset would still run Sense Touch. There was also mention of the quick access to the Play Anything feature of the device. In addition, the first clip already introduced the idea that the sides of the smartphone will have intuitive controls.
