HTC has yet to announce its rumored upcoming project, Amaze 4G, which is expected to deliver enough firepower to become one of the biggest competitors in the smartphone market.

Although all the features and specs of the phone are only matters of speculation, they seem good enough to stand a chance up against big names like Samsung Galaxy S2, Apple’s iPhone 5 and Motorola Droid bionic.

Here is a look at Amaze 4G’s rumored specs and how they match up against Samsung's Galaxy S2, the best smartphone on the planet at the moment.

The Amaze 4G, also known as HTC Ruby, is rumored to sport the same 4.3-inch display as that of Samsung Galaxy S2. While the Galaxy S2 comes with a 480 x 800 pixels Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 217 ppi pixel density, the Amaze 4G is rumored to deliver a 540 x 960 pixels Capacitive touchscreen with 256 ppi pixel density. The Samsung-made smartphone features Gorilla Glass display, Gyroscope sensor and TouchWiz UI v4.0, compared to Amaze 4G’s own Gyro sensor and HTC Sense v3.0 UI, reportedly.

The Amaze 4G, just like the Galaxy S2, is expected to run on Google’s Android 2.3 or Gingerbread, although, previously, it was also rumored by a few Web sites and blogs that the HTC-made smartphone would run on Android Honeycomb.

As per sources, the Amaze 4G is expected to sport an 8 MP, 3264x2448 pixels, autofocus, dual-LED flash rear camera with geo-tagging, touch-focus, image stabilization, face detection and instant capture, along with a secondary front-facing 2 MP camera for video chat.

The Galaxy S2, however, features the same camera specs with video recording of 1080p at 30fps. The Amaze 4G is also said to come with the same backside-illuminated sensor, f2.2 wide-angle optics and 1080p video recording capability as HTC’s myTouch 4G Slide. A recent image of the device showed two physical camera buttons, one for stills and the other for video.

As for the processors, the Galaxy S2 comes with a Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset with 1 GB RAM which is one of the fastest in the market. The Amaze 4G, on the other hand, is rumored to sport a Snapdragon, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with an expected RAM ranging from 768MB to 1GB, which could arrive as threat for most of the other smartphones that are doing rounds in the market, if not for the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Other features like external card slots are same for both devices as the Amaze 4G is also expected to arrive with external microSD slot of up to 32 GB, which is same as that of Samsung’s Galaxy S2. Amaze 4G is also rumored to be the first ever HTC-made smartphone to support NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

Even the WLAN features of the Amaze 4G is the same as that of the Galaxy S2 with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot.
