Jane the Virgin
Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) will meet her literary idol this “Jane the Virgin” Season 4. The CW

Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) is in for a real treat this “Jane the Virgin” Season 4, since her literary idol Isabel Allende is going to make an appearance as herself.

According to TV Guide, Allende’s works are very similar to Jane’s, since they both mix their personal experiences with historical events. Allende’s works include “The House of the Spirits” and “City of the Beasts,” and she even received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014 from former President Barack Obama.

For her part, “Jane the Virgin” executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman is honored to have Allende appear on the show. “We are overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude that this literary icon is appearing on Jane!” she said.

Aside from meeting Allende, Jane will probably fall in love again since her first love, Adam (Tyler Posey), is back in town. Urman said the two are going to be spending a lot of time together because of their professions - Jane’s a writer and Adam’s an artist.

“He’s an illustrator of comic books and graphic novels,” Urman told Entertainment Weekly of Adam. “He’s the same age as [Jane], but their lives have gone in such drastically different paths that it feels like they’re almost living different lives.”

Urman further described Adam as a “fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants kind of guy,” and dating him would feel very new to Jane even though they already know each other. “Jane’s never dated an artist since she’s decided that she was an artist, so they connect on an artistic level and he just has a different approach to life than she does. I think that will be fun to see how Jane fits into his world,” she said.

Should they get together, Jane’s feelings for her baby daddy Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni) will definitely take a backseat. But fans should not lose hope for #TeamRafael, since even Baldoni is rooting for them.

“I’m such a romantic; I do think Jane and Rafael belong together,” he said. “They come from different worlds. They’re so different. [But] the journey they've been on, the destiny, the fate, the heartbreak, the struggle - I think those are things that make a great marriage. I think those are things that we all root for.”

“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 will return to the CW on Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT.
