Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle had very different makeup looks during their two separate engagements this week.

International makeup artist Karin Darnell revealed the secret to the duchesses’ distinct looks and said that it had to do with their different palette of colors. While speaking with Daily Mail, Darnell said that Middleton is a classic beauty and she barely needs makeup to enhance her already stunning features.

“A slightly peachy/pink shadow has been used on her lids and makes her eyes really stand out and sparkle. Meghan looks elegant and her make up is what I like to call my ‘Symphony Beige’ technique – an expensive look, supremely contoured and beautifully highlighted with yellow, bronze, and beiges,” she said.

On Tuesday, Markle and Prince Harry went to the Natural History Museum to watch the gala performance of “The Wider Earth.” While there, the pregnant royal was photographed in her white figure-hugging Calvin Klein dress and white Amanda Wakeley coat.

Darnell said that Markle’s choice of clothes and makeup has kept her looking both sprightly and elegant especially as she nears her due date.

“She has full lashes and a lovely open eye, which makes her look bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, glossy cheeks. A slick of highlighter on the apples of her cheeks adds a hint of glam,” she said.

Middleton, on the other hand, stunned in her pink Gucci gown when she attended a dinner reception at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London on Wednesday night.

According to Darnell, Middleton’s pink color palette was a deliberate choice to compliment the Duchess of Cambridge’s floor-length gown. The makeup expert described the mom of three’s look as very radiant and her skin is youthful and looks incredibly healthy and dewy.

She also said that Middleton might have used a cream blusher as it creates the softer, dewy look and gives more of a radiant finish to powder blushers. She also said that the Duchess should have opted for a slightly softer and glossier diffused lip to really finish her entire look.
