"Chained to the Rhythm" singer, Kate Perry, also known for her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, came under fire this weekend after making a joke on Instagram Live about the former President Barack Obama.

Perry was reading a series of fan questions when one of her fans said he missed her old black hair. Perry, who had recently dyed her tresses blonde, said: "Oh, really? Do you miss Barack Obama as well? Oh, Ok. Times change. Bye! See you guys later."

After making the comment, the “Bon Appétit” singer started laughing and turned around to look at her friends, perhaps looking for their approval on her comment. “I should leave now,” she said. “OK, you’re cut off,” replied a friend off-camera before the live stream came to an end.

Disappointed fans reacted to the Barack Obama statement on social media, criticizing the singer who had distributed Black Lives Matter shirts out as Christmas gifts in December.

Perry is not the only celebrity to be accused of making a racist comment. A number of A-listers have been involved in similar incidents. Here is a look at five such examples.

1. Justin Bieber

TMZ got a video of the "Baby" singer a few years back, showing a 15-year old Bieber telling a racist joke to his friends, despite knowing he was being recorded. The video was shot backstage at a promotional event, early in his career. He said: "Why are black people afraid of chain saws?" His punchline , repeatedly contained the words "Run N****r."

2. Mel Gibson

In 2006, Gibson was arrested for drunk driving in Los Angeles. According to the arresting officer's report, obtained by TMZ, Gibson verbally attacked officers with anti-Semitic language including “f****** Jews”, and stating Jewish people were responsible for the wars in this country.

3. Chris Rock

On July 4, 2012, comedian and actor Chris Rock made an appearance on FX’s "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" where he made a joke about the Independence Day holiday. It referred to black people and Rock later tweeted the same: "Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed fireworks."

4. Kelly Osbourne

In 2015, while trying to make a point about presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, Osbourne, who was a guest co-host on "The View" said: “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?” Soon after the British actress made the comment, the other co-hosts tried to stop her from speaking further, but she continued. Later, Osbourne apologized in Facebook for her "poor choice of words" on the show.

5. Michael Richards

In 2012, during a stand up comedy show at Laugh Factory, Richards went on a rant, making a derogatory statement towards a black male who was speaking during his act. Richards said: "50 years ago we would have you upside down with a fork up your a**”, and “ you’re a n*****”. Within 24 hours of the incident, TMZ had a recording up on its website, which, till this day, has over a million hits on YouTube .
