Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West welcomed their fourth child recently via surrogate, and the reality TV star has revealed the name of her newborn son, Psalm West. Sources close to the family dished on the meaning behind the name and what it represents for the couple.

When Kardashian first revealed the name of her son on Twitter, people who have read the Bible were able to quickly make the connection. Others, however, were confused by the name and also wondered about its correct pronunciation.

Psalm is actually a Hebrew word which means “song.” A source close to the couple told E! News that the name has spiritual significance for the couple and that it was picked by Kanye.

“It was a very important to him, and Kim wanted the name to have a significance that held a true representation of their family, so she agreed on the name,” the insider said.

A second source said that Kanye felt “very strongly” about the name Psalm. When he explained the name and its significance to Kim, the reality star thought it was “beautiful” and agreed after thinking about it a little.

Both Kanye and his wife are very spiritual people. Kardashian recently shared a few videos of their regular Sunday service on Twitter that was attended by many people, who spent their time praying and singing together.

Aside from the multiple projects that Kardashian has going on, including her business ventures and reality series, she is also studying to be a lawyer. West’s wife is currently on a mission to help free prisoners and bring about criminal justice reforms.

Kardashian helped free Alice Marie Johnson from prison last year, and since then, she has helped free 17 other people. The reality star wants to help non-violent drug offenders by becoming a lawyer.

Meanwhile, Johnson is writing a memoir titled “After Life,” and Kardashian has written the foreword of the book. According to an excerpt of the foreword obtained by People, the reality star thanked Johnson for giving her a “new sense of purpose” in life.
