The action continues when “Lethal Weapon” returns from its midseason hiatus this coming Wednesday.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Matt Miller revealed that viewers are going to see Riggs (Clayne Crawford) in an adrenaline-pumping action sequence in the winter premiere. In Season 1, episode 10, “Homebodies,” Riggs becomes less inhibited than usual when he gets dosed with a “secret concoction.”

“He ends up in a set piece, super high,” Miller said. “So we get to watch him do his normal stuff, where he runs and jumps on the hood of a car, except all the lights of Koreatown are blurring by.”

It remains to be seen why Riggs takes a “secret concoction,” but it may have something to do with him still trying to cope with Miranda’s (Floriana Lima) death. Miller also told TVLine that Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) is going to ask himself in the episode if he can continue working with Riggs “who doesn’t seem to be getting better, but seems to be getting worse and worse.”

Fans are also going to see a gripping stunt sequence involving Riggs in episode 11, titled “Lawmen,” in which the mop-topped detective finds himself handcuffed to a car steering wheel.

“He’s going to have a key under his tongue [to] escape, but the bad guys end up taking another car and pushing his car into the ocean,” Miller teased of the action scene. “So he’s now handcuffed to a steering wheel as the car is sinking into an ocean, and he has to get out of that.”

It’s unclear whether Crawford did the stunts himself, but in a previous behind-the-scenes interview with the actor, he said that he likes to do his own stunts as much as possible. “Once I expressed to them that I wanted to do as much of my stunts as humanly possible, Tim Trella, who is the head of the stunts, jumped in and started training me immediately,” Crawford said. “His stunt team is top notch. We weren’t doing [stunts] in green screen on a sound stage. [So] it adds quality to the product.”

“Homebodies” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX, while “Lawmen” premieres the following week in the same time slot.
