LG has sent out invitations for a launch event that will be held on Feb. 21. The South Korean tech giant has clearly mentioned on its invitation that the LG G5 smartphone will be unleashed on the said date at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event that will be organized at Barcelona, Spain.

LG has not revealed any information on the specifications and features of LG G5, but the rumor mill has revealed a lot about the LG G5 in the recent past. The LG G4 and LG G3 smartphones came with impressive specs along with polycarbonate chassis. Speculations are rife that the LG G5 will not feature a polycarbonate body but it will be arriving with a full-metal design.

According to Phone Arena, the latest LG G5 leaks indicate that the smartphone will be arriving with a 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch Quad HD screen supporting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is expected to come with a wider screen as it will be sporting minimal bezels. The smartphone is also tipped to feature a secondary display like the LG V10.

The smartphone will be fueled by Snapdragon 820 chipset that will be accompanied by either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. One of the salient features of the LG G5 will be its dual-camera setup that will include a 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel shooters. It will be also featuring a fingerprint scanner. Speculations are rife that LG would be providing a provision on the LG G5 to easily swap the battery despite its metal unibody design.

The arrival of LG G5 will clash with the launch of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge as Samsung is expected to unveil its flagships also on Feb. 21. According to GSM Arena, an executive from LG had said in an interview that the company is ready to pit against Samsung indicating that the LG G5 has been built to directly against the Samsung Galaxy S7.
