Although a birthday is typically a time for celebration, it looks like Meghan Markle may be ringing in her 36th birthday on Friday without her boyfriend Prince Harry. After flying out to London a week prior to her big day, the actress headed out of the U.K. just before the special occasion arrived.

Despite her early departure, Markle’s trip to London was not in vain. The actress used the brief getaway to show her mother, Doria Radlan, around her boyfriend’s city, according to E! News. Sources have told the media outlet that Markle, who had to fly back to Toronto, Canada to film the USA series “Suits,” is considering making the move overseas to be closer to her beau.

In June, an insider revealed that the couple is “in an extremely solid and happy place at the moment.” Furthermore, they have reached a point in their relationship in which they would like to spend more time together.

“They aren’t rushing ahead at a ridiculous speed or making rash decisions. But, yes, they love each other very much and neither could imagine being without the other,” the source said at the time.

“They speak about the future a lot, whether it’s getting each other’s take on future career plans or where they’ll be as a couple. They talk about living in London—Meghan really sees herself moving, and he really wants that,” the insider added.

Even though she had to leave London ahead of her birthday, the actress has every intention of returning to her beau’s place of residence. “She’ll be back in London before you know it,” a source said.

It was previously rumored that the royal planned on proposing to Markle on her birthday, but it is looking like that may not happen. Insiders believed that Prince Harry would propose on the actress’ birthday so he could associate the month with a positive memory.

“He feels getting engaged will lift that gloom forever because he will be able to associate August with something joyful,” an insider told Us Weekly. The royal allegedly feels sad during the month because his mother, Princess Diana, was killed in a car accident on Aug. 31, 1997.

During a chat with Newsweek in June, Harry revealed that he wants to lead a normal life that includes a wife and children. The royal credited his mother for keeping him in touch with reality and giving him hope for a future out of the spotlight.

“My mother [Princess Diana] took a huge part in showing me an ordinary life, including taking me and my brother [Prince William] to see homeless people. Thank goodness I’m not completely cut off from reality. People would be amazed by the ordinary life William and I live,” the royal explained.

“I do my own shopping. Sometimes, when I come away from the meat counter in my local supermarket, I worry someone will snap me with their phone. But I am determined to have a relatively normal life, and if I am lucky enough to have children, they can have one too,” he said.
