A group of vampires arrive in Midnight in next week’s Season 1, episode 3 of “Midnight, Texas.”

In the trailer for the episode, Creek (Sarah Ramos) meets one of the new vampires in town while taking an evening walk.

“Hello to you baby doll,” a long-haired male vampire creepily greets the waitress in the street.

When Creek says that she’s not afraid of him, the vampire suddenly holds the back of her head and tries to bite her. Luckily for Creek, Midnight’s resident vampire, Lemuel (Peter Mensah), shows up and knocks his fellow vampire to the ground.

Surprisingly, the vampire who tries to attack Creek is an old friend of Lem named Zachariah (Zahn McClarnon), and apparently, he and his crew are looking to make Midnight their new home.

“We’re family,” Zachariah tells Lem in the promo clip, asking for his permission.

When Lem says that they can’t stay in the town, Zachariah and his group wage war against the Midnighters, who all work together to drive away their unwelcome guests.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, Manfred (François Arnaud) teams up with Olivia (Arielle Kebbel) to uncover the real story behind Zachariah’s arrival. Meanwhile, Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley) and Bobo (Dylan Bruce) hatch a plan of their own in case the vampires are up to no good.

Meanwhile, Joe (Jason Lewis) confides his suspicions about the veil to hell opening in Midnight to the Rev (Yul Vázquez). Joe first revealed his suspicions about the veil to hell opening in Midnight to his husband Chuy (Bernardino Saracino) at the end of Season 1, episode 2.

“Evil is being drawn here — human evil, supernatural evil — and it’s just the beginning,” Joe told Chuy last episode. “The more that evil takes hold, the more the veil frays until it breaks altogether.”

When Chuy asked how Joe knew this, the fallen angel said that he was in Midnight when the veil tore the last time a millennia ago. Chuy is worried about what he just learned, but Joe pointed out that the veil might not completely tear open this time around. “There’s a prophecy,” Joe said. “An army will rise to battle the evil and seal the veil forever. That army will be led by a man with the gift of vision who can bridge the living and the dead.”

Joe and Chuy are convinced that the man mentioned in the prophecy is none other than Manfred, but will he live up to it?

“Midnight, Texas” Season 1, episode 3, titled “Lemuel, Unchained,” airs on Monday, Aug. 7 at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
