Lenovo-owned Motorola has apparently sent out press invites for a special event scheduled for May 17 in India. This is when Motorola is believed to unveil the heavily-rumored Moto G 2016 (also known as Moto G4) and Moto G4 Plus.

Going by the past rumors, the Moto G 2016 will come with a 5.5-inch display, complemented by 1080p screen resolution. Under the hood, an octa-core CPU will reportedly power this mid-ranger. This device will be backed by 2 GB of RAM configuration, GSM Arena reported.

Speaking of design, rumors suggest that the full-plastic look of the predecessor will be replaced by a metallic frame running through the corners of the Moto G 2016. This premium-look will enable the handset to be in sync with the current-generation models released recently.

Although, nothing much has been revealed about the bigger sibling Moto G4 Plus, past reports suggested that Motorola will house a fingerprint scanner on this variant.

Not long ago, CEO of Lenovo Yang Yuanqing reportedly told the media houses that Motorola will be introducing a new device on June 9. However, he did not give out the device name earmarked to be launched in this event.

In general, Motorola has promised to release Moto G 2016, Moto X 2016 and Moto E 2016 spanning this year. Even though rumors and leaks surrounding the flagship Moto X 2016 are sky high, there is no word on the official launch date yet. So, it’s safe to assume that in the upcoming May 17 event, the mid-ranger Moto G 2016 will be unveiled, whereas the Moto X 2016 is likely to get introduced on June 9.
