“Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown rocked a white dress to the MTV Movie and TV Awards, but it’s her accessories that really make a statement. The young actress wore two pins that showed her support for nonprofits as she accepted her golden popcorn on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

One pin showed a blue ampersand, which shows support for the LGBT community. GLAAD sells the pin for $8 on their website. The blue ribbon, meanwhile, shows support for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an organization that fights for a number of causes including LGBT rights, immigrants’ rights, religious liberty and reproductive freedom. Many other celebs, including Karlie Kloss and Lin-Manuel Miranda, followed this trend at the Oscars in February.

Millie didn’t mention the pins while she accepted her MTV Award for best TV actor, but she may have been a bit too overwhelmed. After beating Emilia Clarke from “Game of Thrones,” Donald Glover from “Atlanta,” Gina Rodriguez from “Jane the Virgin,” Jeffrey Dean Morgan from “The Walking Dead” and Mandy Moore from “This is Us,” the actress was shocked. She even started tearing up while onstage.

“First of all, I want to thank everyone who voted and especially MTV,” Brown said while onstage at the Shrine Auditorium. “I want to thank the cast and crew, who have become my family. You guys, I love you.”

She thanked a list of people, but she also made sure to thank Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, who created Netflix’s “Stranger Things” for creating the tough “female iconic character that I’ve got the honor to play.”

The 13-year-old was likely shocked because while she has been nominated for several awards, she is typically beat by older actors in her individual categories. The only other time she scored a statue was as part of the best ensemble in a drama at the SAG Awards (she lost the best actress SAG Award to “The Crown” star Claire Foy).

Brown is set to return for “Stranger Things” Season 2, which will be released on Netflix in October. Before the MTV Movie and TV Awards, Brown dished that the sci-fi show would take a new direction when it returns. “It’s very dark,” the British actress told InStyle. “It’s a lot different from Season 1, you’re going to like it a lot more than Season 1.”

Brown and “Stranger Things” are up for several golden popcorn statues. Brown is also nominated for best hero against the likes of Felicity Jones from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Stephen Amell from “Arrow,” Mike Colter from “Luke Cage,” Grant Gustin from “The Flash” and Taraji P. Henson from “Hidden Figures.” In addition, “Stranger Things” is nominated for best show, and the Demogorgon is also up for best villain.
