Here’s what you need to know if you want to catch the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards online Sunday, May 7. MTV/Facebook

The time has come to join MTV in honoring all the best of the best in movies and, for the first time ever, TV. That’s right — this year, the 2017 MTV Movie Awards have made a move to include TV, too.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are set to kick off Sunday, May 7, at 8 p.m. EDT. The show’s taking place live at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Those tuning in at home can catch it on MTV or tune in to the live stream.

The network will be airing the MTV Movie & TV Awards live on their website. To view the stream, you’ll have to enter your cable provider username and password. This stream does require a TV subscription.

The inclusion of TV related categories in this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards means new awards have been added to the roster. Show of the year, best host, best actor in a show and best reality competition are a few of the new categories. TV shows have also been nominated alongside films in certain categories, like tearjerker, best American story and best fight against the system.

Staple categories like best kiss, movie of the year, and best actor in a movie are also being brought back. Popular films like “Get Out,” “Hidden Figures” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” are among the nominees in those categories and others. On the TV side, viewers can expect to see shows like “Stranger Things,” “This Is Us,” and “Game of Thrones” up for statuettes.

This year’s show will be hosted by Adam DeVine. This is the actor/comedian’s first time emceeing the MTV award show. Although he’s never done it before, DeVine told The Hollywood Reporter he’s looking forward to it and has been waiting to land this gig for some time.

“I’m so excited to host the ‘MTV Movie & TV Awards,’” he said. “I have dreamed about it since I was a teenager. It was usually a dry dream, but I would be remiss if I didn’t admit that sometimes it was wet.”

DeVine’s occasionally crass humor isn’t the only thing viewers have to look forward to when tuning in to the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The network’s locked in some pretty stellar performers including Big Sean, Noah Cyrus and Camila Cabello and Pitbull performing “Hey Ma.” The song was the lead single in “Fate of the Furious,” which is expected to be taking some major awards home during the show.

The highest honor they’re taking home during the MTV Movie & TV Awards will be the generation award. Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster will accept the honor together. Previous recipients include Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp and more.

Other awards will also be handed out throughout the night. Celebrity presenters will share the stage with DeVine to do the honors. Cara Delevingne, Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena and others will be doling out the gilded popcorn statues at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.
