On Sunday night, actor Adam DeVine will grace the stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The 2017 award show will mark the network’s first time in 25 years acknowledging work on television along with feature films.

DeVine, known for his work on the Comedy Central series “Workaholics,” ABC’s “Modern Family” and the “Pitch Perfect” films, has earned himself a reputation as a funny guy.

Before the 33-year-old hits the stage on Sunday, check out these four fast facts about the award show host:

1. DeVine dislikes Delta airlines

After being inconvenienced by the airline, the actor went on a Twitter rant on Feb. 10, condemning Delta for its bad service.

“@Delta you are the WORST airline. If you were a person I would crop dust you,” he tweeted.

“@Delta you LOST MY BAGS, again. YOU took them off the plane. I payed extra for priority so I don’t get screwed like this,” he continued.

Needless to say, DeVine no longer flies Delta.

2. He was discovered on YouTube

After starting a sketch comedy group with Kyle Newacheck, Blake Anderson and Anders Holm called Mail Order Comedy, the actor began posting improv videos to YouTube that were eventually seen by an executive from Comedy Central. The comedians now serve as executive producers and series creators on the show “Workaholics.”

3. DeVine was inspired to pursue an entertainment career after a traumatic accident

DeVine first got the idea to become a comedian after getting hit by a cement truck at 11 years old. The actor was heading to the store with some friends when he stepped into the street with his bike and was struck by the truck.

“They say the reason I lived was the bike took the hit first,” DeVine told Entertainment Weekly.

“I still slid 500 feet. Picked me up under the first two wheels and then spit me out,” he added. Despite spending the next two years learning how to walk again and recovering from the accident, looking back on the traumatic event, the actor is grateful for his experience. “I’m glad that it happened to me,” he stated.

“It really gave me a driving force.” During his recovery, DeVine would create sketches and jokes and even call into the local radio station. Once on the air, he would do Chris Farley impressions and voice characters.

“A lot of comics say that something traumatic happened in their lives, that sort of pushes them in this direction,” DeVine said. “Some of their dads burned them with cigarettes and stuff. My dad just pushed me in a wheelchair, you know? It could be much worse. I just had a cement truck.”

4. His family enjoys his R-rated humor

The actor revealed that despite talking about raunchy topics during his stand-up comedy shows, he has performed his set in front of his family. “I did a show in Cedar Falls two years ago and my aunts and uncles and cousins came. I tell crazy stories during my set, stuff that I probably wouldn’t share at Thanksgiving with my family, so I was nervous, but that was the most fun show I’ve ever had,” DeVine told USA Today.

“My show is just fun. So much of what is going on right now, no matter where you stand politically is draining, and I think people just want to forget about politics and news and what side of the fence you are on for just a little bit. I want people to feel like I’m their friend and we are just in someone’s living room laughing and having a good time,” he said.
