Taliban leader Mullah Omar is not dead, said a spokesman for Afghan Taliban, Reuters reported.

Rejecting the report from an Afghan channel named TOLO television, Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press said that the elusive Taliban leader is alive.

Reports regarding the killing of Amir-ul-Moemineen (Omar) are false. He is safe and sound, Afghan Taliban spokesman Qari Muhamad Yousaf told AIP.

Afghanistan's privately owned TOLO television reported earlier that Omar was shot dead as he was being moved from Quetta to North Waziristan by former ISI chief general Hamid Gul.
