No label defines New York City quite like DKNY. Donna Karan knows New York, breathes New York, and is able to create collections that exemplify the lifestyle of a city girl.

DKNY's Fall 2012 collection, which showed at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, was inspired by the inner flirt. The flirty collection was totally tempting, mixing sassy pieces with a hint of city grit.

The current face of DKNY, actress Ashley Greene, made an appearance at Sunday's show wearing a stunning crimson DKNY gown and her long wavy hair clipped off to the side. The beauty smiled for photos and chatted with Donna Karan before the runway opened.

Models strutted down the catwalk at 547 W. 26th St., a warehouse venue with its glass-paneled doors swung wide open to let in the aura of the New York City streets. A yellow cab with the DKNY ad banner across it sat parked in the front of the building.

The Fall 2012 collection showed a heavy base in black and leather. Models wore off-the-shoulder dresses, sheer paneled gowns, fur tops, cinched waist-belts and lots (we mean LOTS) of leather all in the dark noir shade.

There were some pops of color and print. A royal blue gown glided down the runway followed by a plum waistcoat and a mahogany fur and leather jacket. A white leopard print sweater paired well with the black snakeskin pieces in the collection. But a blue violet, floral print dress seemed like a haphazard addition to the line.
