Just in time for New York Fashion Week, Penelope Cruz is the star of a sexy new PETA campaign unveiled on Wednesday before fashion's most important biannual week.

The new poster featuring Cruz, Give Fur the Cold Shoulder, will be unveiled during the 2012 fall collections Fashion Week on Feb. 9 though the campaign hit the Internet on Wednesday. The 70-foot poster will debut on a high-rise building in New York City's garment district near Penn Station, according to the Huffington Post.

Penelope Cruz has appeared on every best-dressed list in the world, and the one thing you'll never see her wearing is fur, PETA VP Lisa Lange told WENN. There's not an inch of fur in the collection that she and her sister designed for the fur-free Spanish clothing retailer Mango.

PETA is happy to have chosen Cruz, 37, for their latest campaign.

Peta couldn't ask for a more fitting emblem of the modern, glamorous woman who knows that there's nothing more beautiful than a woman who has a look that kills without anyone having to die for it.

Cruz is not the first celebrity to endorse PETA's anti-fur movement; Other celebrities like Charlize Theron, Khloe Kardashian, Pink, Eva Mendes and Pamela Anderson.

Fashion Week is a busy season for PETA, as the organization urges designers not refrain from using animal furs and skins in their collections. In the past, members of the picket line have thrown paint and bloody carcasses, but now have shifted gears to host parties in collaboration to educate designers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
