It's only one letter, but the difference between the S and B from Osama to Obama is monumental.
Barack Obama is the leader of the free world. Osama bin Laden was the face of global terrorism.
Yet, somehow amidst the exciting fury of news regarding the death of Osama bin Laden, a number of news organizations actually managed to mix-up the two polar opposites. An anchor for Fox 5, out of Washington D.C., made an egregious error immediately following President Obama's speech.
President Obama speaking from the east room of The White House telling the nation and the world that President Obama is in fact dead,
Another Fox affiliate, Fox40 out of Sacramento, Calif., put up an erroneous graphic last night which claimed Obama bin Laden was dead.
MSNBC correspondent Norah O'Donnell, tweeted before the news had hit the mainstream, that Obama was shot and killed. She quickly deleted it afterwards. During a video showing the Osama bin Laden compound where he was gunned down by Navy SEALs, CNN had a graphic up showing Inside the Obama compound.
NPR and Sky News also mistook Obama for Osama. Sky News had a headline that said, Reaction: World Leaders Hail Obama's Death. NPR's headline said, Obama Bin Laden is dead, officials say.
