It looks like Nina Dobrev is officially returning to “The Vampire Diaries” for the series finale. The actress confirmed her return to The CW show on Instagram.

The 28-year-old took to her social media account on Thursday where she shared a photo of a “Vampire Diaries” script with her name on it. “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever,” the actress captioned the photo.

The script gave some clues as to when fans can expect to see Dobrev back on the small screen and it looks like it won’t be until the very last episode of the series. This script is listed as episode 816, “I was Feeling Epic.” The supernatural series is scheduled to conclude after episode 16.

Dobrev left “The Vampire Diaries” in Season 6 in order to pursue a movie career. On the show, the actress played Elena Gilbert who was a human that eventually turned into a vampire and then went back to be a human, all while falling in love with Stefan and Damon Salvatore played by Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, respectively.

Although Dobrev chose to leave the show, her character was not killed off. Instead, Elena was linked to Bonnie (Kat Graham) with a spell. As long as Bonnie is alive, Elena will remain asleep, however, when Bonnie dies, she will awake.

Dobrev has appeared in several movies during her time on and off the show. Some of her films include “Let’s Be Cops,” “Final Girls” “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” and “Flatliners.” However, TVD fans are probably more focused on her return to Mystic Falls.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
