Nintendo will release a day-one update for the console just before it launches next week, according to GameSpot .

GameSpot got a Nintendo Switch before its release, but found the system doesn't have all of its launch-day functionality as of yet. Nintendo will release the update just before the console launches March 3.

Here’s what the update will have according to the report :

  • Access to network features, such as Nintendo eShop, online gameplay, ability to share images to social media, etc.

  • Ability to link Nintendo Accounts to your Nintendo Switch console.

  • Ability to connect online using hotspots that require authentication, such as at a hotel or café. A web applet will open up so the user can sign-in or accept terms of use.

The Nintendo Switch day-one update does not come with access to the Virtual Console, which won't be available at launch but could in the future. The update will quickly and quietly download in the background without disrupting gamers.
