Even the President of the United States wishes for some alone time once in a while.

In a recent interview with Israel’s Channel 2 News, President Barack Obama fantasized about wearing a fake mustache and enjoying blissful anonymity.

"Sometimes I have this fantasy that I can put on a disguise and, you know, wear a fake mustache. I could wander through Tel Aviv and go to a bar and have a conversation," he told Israel's Channel 2. Obama’s musings come in advance of his scheduled trip to the Middle East next week.

Obama also fantasized about his desire to enjoy Israel without the inevitability of public recognition. "I'd love to sit at a cafe and just hang out,” he said. “The last time I was there, as a senator, I still had the option of wandering through the Old City in Jerusalem. That option, I think, becomes a lot trickier when you're actually president."

Although the president’s fantasy is likely to remain unfulfilled, he's planning on interacting with the people of Israel as much as possible. "We're going to try to find as many opportunities as I can to interact directly with the Israeli people," Obama told Israel's Channel 2. "But you've tapped into something that chafes at me. It's the toughest thing about being president -- you can't just slip out and interact with people without having a bunch of guys with machine guns with you."

This isn’t the first time that the president has had fantasies about wearing a disguise. At a June fundraiser, Obama joked about using a fake mustache so that he could walk through New York City's Central Park without the overbearing presence of the Secret Service. "I tried it on and I thought it looked pretty good. But when I tested this scheme with the Secret Service, they said it didn’t look good enough," he told an audience.

For what it’s worth, Mr. President, we think you’d look great in a fake mustache.
