Pippa Middleton was slammed by Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld after the enigmatic German fashion designer said he's not a fan of the face of Kate Middleton's sister.

"I don't like the sister's face. She should only show her back," Lagerfeld, 78, told The Sun.

However, the Chanel fashion designer had high praise for the Duchess of Cambridge.

"Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy," Lagerfeld said, referring to Prince William. "I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties. On the other hand, her sister struggles."

Lagerfeld's remarks about Pippa Middleton's face aren't the first time the Chanel fashion designer has been outspoken about a celebrity's looks. He once said singer Adele is "too fat."

The designer's attacks on both women led one Sun commenter to go after Lagerfeld's looks.

"Has he looked at himself in a mirror recently?  Every time I see this ugly old guy I think about a silent Dracula movie," wrote xms. "This is the second lady this old man has insulted. He didn't have anything nice to say about the singer Adele's looks either. In my opinion both Pippa and Adele are lovely looking women."

Another commenter agreed with Lagerfeld but thought the Chanel designer should have kept the nasty remark to himself.

"Pippa is below par when it comes to beauty and she knows that," said kwwaku. "But Lagerfeld SHUT YOUR STINKING MOUTH."

Sun commenter paul_the_beat-all agreed.

"Talk about stones and glass houses.  He is so ugly the Elephant Man would have paid to see him," they wrote.

Lagerfeld is one of fashion's most enigmatic personalities.

For instance, he dotes on his cat, Choupette Lagerfeld, who has two maids and their own iPod.

Choupette even has her own Twitter account.

"I'm a famous beauty who refuses to eat on the floor & my maids pamper my every need. I am Choupette Lagerfeld and I am a spoiled pussy," is how the tabby describes herself in her Twitter profile.

Choupette also entered the fray on Pippa Middleton with her own tweet about Kate Middleton's sister.

"Silly Daddy, Pippa's face isn't THAT bad. Although I am secretly jealous of her backside," Choupette Lagerfeld (or the staffer responsible for the Twitter account) wrote.
