With both the new PS4 and Xbox One consoles on the horizon, GameStop has announced temporary price cuts on preowned Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles, according to GameZone.

From Oct. 11-24, GameStop will sell preowned original Xbox 360 consoles for $99.99, down from $129.99. Preowned Xbox 360 Slim 4GB Systems will cost $119.99, reduced from $179.99. All preowned PlayStation 3 systems will cost $149.99. Prior to these price reductions, preowned PS3 consoles cost as much as $259.99. Anybody who buys any of these preowned gaming consoles will also receive one free preowned game priced at $19.99 or less.

"We are very excited to offer our customers this tremendous deal on these two great consoles," Jon Haes, vice president of preowned merchandise at GameStop said. "We are always looking for new ways to bring value to our customers and this deal is a great opportunity for people to experience gaming at a great low price."

This could be a solid way for gamers who don't own either of these gaming systems to get in on one in the event that they want to play recently released blockbusters like "Grand Theft Auto 5" while also conserving some green.

Both Sony and Microsoft will be launching the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 15 and Nov. 22, respectively. GameStop may be offering these discounts in an effort to rid itself of inventory while also clearing valuable shelf and storage space for the next-generation consoles, both of which are expected to be highly sought after.
