Real Madrid needed a goalkeeping mishap by Caballero Willy to escape past Malaga, 1-0, at La Rosaleda in Malaga, as Los Galacticos advanced to the quarter-finals of Copa del Rey on aggregate, 4-2, on Tuesday.

In the 72nd minute, Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema delivered a right-footed shot from the left side that went directly at Willy, but the Argentine goalkeeper let the ball go straight through his legs.

In some ways, Jose Mourinho's squad really dodged a bullet, as the La Liga titans played with a man down. Defender Alvaro Arbeloa earned two yellow cards for Los Galacticos, leaving the game in the 88th minute.

Malaga played well against Real Madrid in the two legs. At Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid needed three second-half goals to come from behind to seal the win, 3-2.
