Samsung started rolling out the I9300XXELLA Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 I9300 Thursday. The software update, released by the South Korean tech giant, is an unbranded firmware and includes new exciting features from the latest Galaxy phones like Galaxy Note 2 N7100.

The XXELLA Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware brings a number of new features to Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 that include Android 4.1.2 – JZO54K, Multi-View (Multi-Windows Multitasking, same as in Note 2), Page Buddy, New Gallery App (Same as in Note 2), new customizable Notification Panel, Brightness Slider in Notification Panel with disabling option, Smart Rotation, Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard, Paper Artist App and Group Cast App.

The XXELLA Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update was released over Samsung KIES and is now available for download. The users can also update their devices to the latest firmware manually. For more details, click here.

If you have already updated your Galaxy S3 to XXELLA Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, you can now root the latest firmware on the phone. The rooting method, explained below, will use ODIN and it doesn’t require you to have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your device.

Before going ahead, there are some vital points to note:

- The process is meant only for Galaxy S3 I9300. Therefore, the users are advised to check their devices’ model number in: Settings > About phone.

- Make sure the device has at least 80 percent of battery power.

- Download and install USB drivers for your Galaxy S3 and enable the USB debugging mode.

- Back-up all your important data.

Steps To Follow

Step 1: Download CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip for Galaxy S3 to your computer and extract the zip file.

Step 2: Download ODIN v1.85.

Step 3: Switch off your phone and go to Download Mode on your phone. To do this, press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons together and then press the Power button till you see the construction Android robot and a triangle. Press Power again to confirm to enter into Download Mode.

Step 4: Run ODIN as Administrator and then connect the phone to your computer while in Download Mode.

Step 5: If the phone is connected properly, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number.

Step 6: Click the PDA tab in Odin and select the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar.

Step 7: In ODIN, check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. Do not touch any other options.

Step 8: Click on the Start button in ODIN and it will start the installation process.

Step 9: Once the installation is done, the phone will restart. When you see the home screen, you can unplug the phone from the computer.
