New Zealand stepped one step closer to a World Cup victory at home after crushing Argentina in the quarterfinals at Eden Park in Auckland.

Their 33-10 victory sets up a mouth-watering semifinal showdown with Australia.

It wasn't a one-sided affair by any means though, as the Argentines put in a determined performance. Much of the All Blacks scoring came from a terrific kicking display from Piri Weepu before second half tries from Kieran Reed and Brad Thorn took them away from Argentina's reach.

The visitors led for a brief point in the first half after Fabias Cabello crossed for try before Contepomi converted. Marcel Bosch was the other Argentine scorer, kicking in a brilliant penalty.
