Following rumors that Samsung (KRX:005935) could introduce four new tablets in 2014, a new report surfaced online on Friday, claiming that the company’s rumored Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 tablet has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC.

According to the report from Phone Arena, the upcoming Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, one of the four tablets that Samsung is expected to launch early next year, appeared on the FCC's website with the model number SM-T320. The device is likely to be positioned in the upper mid-range or the high-end tablet segment, the report said.

The Phone Arena report pointed toward some cargo data from Zauba, a website that tracks imports and exports to and from India, which reaffirmed the rumored screen size for the device as 8.4 inches.

According to Phone Arena, the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is likely to support Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac. In addition, the device will apparently have a camera with flash on its back as seen in the drawing here:

Last week, a report from SamMobile said that Samsung could introduce three variants of its flagship Galaxy Tab tablet -- the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320/T325), Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (SM-T520/T525) and Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110/T111) -- in the first quarter of 2014.

The SamMobile report also stated that each of the “Pro” models of the Galaxy Tab will feature Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models, while the Tab 3 Lite will feature only 3G connectivity.

Rumors have it that Samsung could release the Galaxy Tab 8.4 -- along with the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 -- by the end of February. The new tablet is also rumored to sport 16GB of storage out of the box.

If rumors about Samsung’s plans of releasing new tablets early next year are accurate, there are two significant events to watch out for -- the first one is the CES 2014, which is scheduled to take place from Jan. 7 to Jan. 10 in Las Vegas and the second one being the Mobile World Congress, which is to be held in Barcelona, Spain in Feb. 2014.
