The year 2011 was a tough one for actress Scarlett Johansson, with the bad memories of her failed marriage to Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds still haunting her and her nude pictures being leaked on the internet following an email hacking.

The 27-year-old beauty is recovering and moving on from the trauma of the divorce and the leaked pictures, but she says the fallout of the divorce is horrible.

The Girl With A Pearl Earring actress told Vouge magazine in an interview for its May cover that It was devastating. It really throws you. You think that your life is going to be one way, and then, for various reasons or whatever, it doesn't work out. This was something I never thought I would be doing. And there's no way to navigate it. Nobody can give you the right answer. It's never anything you want to hear. It's a very lonely thing. It's like the loneliest thing you'll ever do, in some way.

Johannson split from Reynolds in December 2010, two years after their marriage. The divorce was finalized in July. She says marriage is a beautiful institution and a rare opportunity for the all the feelings associated with it, like falling in love, being committed and knowing that you can love someone in that way.

About her marriage to Reynolds, she said that their busy schedules hardly left any time for them together.

About her getting better and overcoming the divorce with time, she said, It gets better. More than anything, it's just that not having your buddy around all the time is weird. There's no rule book. I think it's just time.

It was not long after her split with Reynolds that the actress had to go through the whole humiliation of her leaked pictures on the Internet.

She admitted that it still bothered her to think of the countless people who might have seen her nude pictures.

The Avengers star said that even while going out to dinner, she would feel paranoid and was so upset that she stopped reading about celebrity gossip and reading stories about herself.

Speaking of her current boyfriend Nate Naylor, she said, It must be very strange for him.

It's totally bizarre. It's an adjustment--I mean, it's got to be an adjustment for him ... But he's really remarkably good about it.

Naylor is an advertising executive.

The May issue of Vouge will be available from April 24.
